Zaid Ismail I can finally tell people where to get off and follow it up with 'I wrote a book about it' or 'Don't make me throw MY book at you!'

Seriously though, it is the pay. There isn't much of it, so there's less to worry about than having a real job.
Zaid Ismail If you have a story to tell, write it! But only if it's a story that you want to tell. Don't write something just because you think people want to hear it. There are millions of publications out there cluttering up the bookshelves making it more difficult to find authentic content. Be authentic.
Zaid Ismail One golden rule that I live by is that I will not publish anything, not even a blog post, unless I believe in the value that it offers. That's why I rarely write about topical issues that may be the flavour of the month because I only add my opinion in the mix if I believe that it is sufficiently informed. Having said that, my inspiration is found in the triumphs that ordinary people experience against struggles that are often larger than life.
Zaid Ismail While I received very positive feedback for The Egosystem, I still found that it was appealing to a more discerning crowd rather than the broader appeal that I had hoped for. The follow up book to The Egosystem is intended to appeal to a broader audience because I am committed to ensuring that the value of The Egosystem is as accessible as possible. For this reason I will also be looking at versions for teens and maybe even a children's book to introduce them to these critical concepts early on in life.
Zaid Ismail The best way to deal with writer's block is to write about it. The block that is, not what you were trying to write about when the block hit you. Works every time.
Zaid Ismail Just launched my second book titled Own Your Sh!t. Currently focused on marketing and promo for it, and resuming work on my novel titled An Incomplete Love Story. Can't wait to get back into this one because it is a really important story for me to get out there. Loosely based on personal experiences, it highlights the triumphs and struggles of an atypical Muslim Indian kid growing up in Apartheid South Africa. But, apartheid is not the central theme...his quaint life and love experiences take centre stage.
