The New England landscape inspired me to write 'Camouflage'. I live in a beautiful Connecticut town, surrounded by trees and lakes. One day in fall, I looked into the woodlands and wondered what mysterious creatures could be hidden in there. I thought, if we found something dangerous what would we do? Hunt it? Try to capture it? The answers are in 'Camouflage'.

Know the rules for writing a novel. It’s not good enough to tell a story. Well written novels follow guidelines.
Love criticism. It's great to hear when someone-particularly someone in the field likes your work but in my opinion it's the criticism that actually helps you improve.

I look ahead to where I want the story to go. Then I think about what has to happen to get there. Sometimes the story will tell me what character has to act next or what a logical progression to the plot is. The story-unlocks the block.
