Georgia Knight I've found writing the Hadrian's Gate series that the words have flowed readily, probably because of the many characters and changing scenes. On occasions, when one scene has been a challenge, I've jumped to another and started on that, and then returned to the more challenging one at a later date.

I find the "block" is actually in the editing. Typically, I edit each about 8 times before publishing, and the first two or three are really difficult as you find so much you want to change, you are almost re-writing the book! Then, by time you are on the 6th or 7th edit, you are so blind to the words, you have to walk slowly through each paragraph... It's at this stage I usually get someone else to read them and to point out the stupid mistakes I've missed half a dozen times!

With Hadrian's Gate, I typically have two books on the go at any one time - one in first draft, another in a more advanced stage. That way, I can flick between the two.

Maybe block is a bigger problem for professional, full-time writers, but I have a day job that takes up my time so when I do get chance to put pen to paper I'm full of excitement for the ideas I've been having! I've hit the nail on the head right there! My writer's block is actually my day job!
