Anthony DeCastro I thought I'd write a Western. Maybe somebody seeking out the sheriff, because he's gotten over his head in debt and fears for his life. When I sat down to write, it was Fuzzy sitting in the locker room icing his arm on the last day of the season, and it was a teammate with the debt issues.
Anthony DeCastro Somerset Maugham once said (I paraphrase): "I only write when inspiration hits me. Fortunately it arrives every morning at nine o'clock." That's pretty much it for me, but because I work a 40-hour job, inspiration comes MUCH earlier than nine for me.
Anthony DeCastro The third book in my Fuzzy Koella mystery series. Fuzzy's back in South Carolina trying to help out a teammate with gambling debt he's accrued with the mob...which happens to be headed by a 6'-7" Santa look-a-like.
Anthony DeCastro Start with - just write. Don't talk about writing. Don't spend months prepping. Write. Follow that with - finish what you start. If you do those two things, drop the "aspiring" tag, you are a writer.
Anthony DeCastro Without a doubt being the first person to see the story. It's like getting those movie tickets for a sneak peek screening, except in this case I'm the only one with a ticket.
Anthony DeCastro The only time I've experienced writer's block was after tragic family loss. In that case, the only way to deal with it is by giving myself time to grieve. Time to heal. It's not a process that can be forced, because the creative mind shuts down in these times, and I suspect the work would suffer.
