Nora Ryell Most of my inspiration comes from reading other novels but sometimes inspiration comes from reading nonfiction works such as biographies. The novel I'm working on now takes place in the Napoleonic years - I've just finished reading a biography of Napoleon and one of the threads I have in my novel comes from an actual experience he had.
Nora Ryell I am currently working on the second in my series of unusual heroines. Unusual because they are exceptional for the time they live in. This book is also historical fiction and it's also a spy novel so lots going on in it!
Nora Ryell Stick with the work even when you despair it will ever see the light of day! And a cheering section doesn't hurt, either. Oh, and keep writing! The more you write, the better you become.
Nora Ryell Your time is your own so you work when you're inspired. I'm not a disciplined writer so oftentimes that can be a drawback but I like working to my own rhythm and pace.
Nora Ryell When I experience writer's block I put aside what I'm working on and either work on something else or do something completely different than writing (like cleaning)! It helps to clear my head.
