Lydia Slaby Well, there's this thing called cancer...and then...and then...and then...
Hehehehehe...seriously, though, when life throws such a ridiculous set of curve balls to which I responded in a way that simultaneously confused and inspired me, I couldn't not write about it.
Lydia Slaby I'm an introvert, so it's always a bit of an effort to engage with other people. But, I also know that when I engage authentically, someone always has a thought or a story that brings a new perspective. In short, I get inspired by being in community with humanity.
Lydia Slaby I'm writing a lot in my journal about everything that has shifted in my life in the last six months. One of these days/weeks/months, I know that something in there will turn into my next project. Otherwise, I'm working with my team on the release of Wait, It Gets Worse.
Lydia Slaby WRITE. Write write write write write. Even if it's about what you had for breakfast and your nephew's bowel schedule (hopefully not experienced at the same time). And then? Write some more.
Lydia Slaby So far, it lets me do what I love on my own schedule. Nothing better. I have yet to get paid for it, though, so my writing schedule, although unstructured, is not all of my time. The absolute best thing will be when I can have it be all of my time. Keep you updated on that.
Lydia Slaby Badly. I pout and complain and drink a lot of tea and tinker with spreadsheets and annoy my cats and bake things. Then my husband reminds me that writing is writing so then I write about how annoyed I am with writer's block. And then I work out and take a nap. And then, eventually, it just passes.
