My Summer reading program? I have a newborn and I'm an author! You think I'll have time to read?? Whatsthisnow?
But really, I would love, absolutely love, to finish Jurassic Park. I have started that book a dozen or so times and never got a chance to finish it. It always disappears or a student sees me reading it and I feel obligated to lend it or something!
And my TBR is about 300+ books long right now. I dare not even think of it.

While writing, I pull my inspiration from what I know. When I was a freshman in high school, we always theorized what we would do if zombies showed up wherever we were. For my friends, it was a game. For me, it was a test in my survival knowledge to figure out how we would live through the experience. This is what initially started Surviving. One day, a friend of mine said, "What about the long run?"
What would we do if it were truly happening? We wouldn't be safe because we escaped one situation. What would the world turn into? What would people be like?
This shaped my thinking for this novel.

Word Vomit. I cannot remember who told me first about word vomit, but it has helped me more than anything. I vomit my words to the paper (or screen) and edit later. I don't try to write perfection.

Letting everyone know my thoughts. For years in school, the teachers told me to quit daydreaming. Now, that's what makes me who I am.
