So sorry you had this issue! I have contacted Goodreads and they cannot recreate the error. They suggest that people who experience this problem contact them and show them the error message, as I don't know what it is. (They asked me for a screenshot for it)

I know this was from two years ago, but I'm just now seeing it--I'd for sure go to Narnia, just a glimpse of Aslan would be enough! After that would be Middle Earth and then, though it's in our world, getting to go to Hogwarts would be pretty cool! I love the Cruel Prince and Holly Black's world, but I think I'd get eaten or killed there, so...

So sorry this was so long ago! I need to check this more! It's hard to say where I get my ideas, but I knew I wanted Anna and Jack to work together in Mountain of Flame. I felt that Anna grew a lot in the second book learning to rely on herself, but in third, she and Jack need to learn to work together, which is frankly what it means to mature.
The idea of the Mountain of Flame came from Isaiah in the Bible--there are lots of references in that book of both a holy mountain (Isaiah 25:6) where God will provide a lavish banquet for all people, and also of God using fire to purify. (Isaiah 47:14). Other parts of the Bible speak of fire being used by God in guidance--like leading the Israelites out of Egypt using a pillar of flame by night. I use these things not to have a direct allegory from the Bible, but more in spurring ideas.

I'm not sure it's a mystery per se, but there is a story in my family history from the Civil War in which my ancestor fought on the North, was captured and imprisoned by the South, escaped and then when he tried to return to the Union troops, they thought he was a Confederate soldier and put him into prison in Fort Leavenworth, KS. He was later released. From the train to Ft. Leavenworth, he saw lovely farmland and said when he got out he'd move his family there, and that's how my family on my father's side came to be in Missouri.

So sorry! Not sure what went wrong. I did follow you, though. Maybe that will help.

I love getting to set my own schedule and being home to walk my dog and get everything else done.
