I returned to playing music in my forties, and I’ve made good friends with a lot of hobbyist musicians who did the same. It’s hard to find info about all the things we stumbled on—how to jam, how to approach music as someone who isn’t looking for a Grammy, how to find people for a band, things like that. I’ve also written essays about my music experiences—the joys, struggles, and humor of it. So I decided to combine my experiences and what I’ve learned into a how-to book.
