Music! It's my greatest muse. Plus a little bit of my life whether it's my experiences or what I see. I leave pieces of my reality in every book. It's something that I recently started. Shonda Rhimes, along with Ava Duvernay, are my shero's and in Shonda Rhimes book she had one sentence that changed my whole outlook. We don't have to try and come up with a story, "the best stories are true."

Believe in yourself. More than anyone else, believe in yourself. No one else can write for you. People can back you and support you, but even if you don't have that you still have to pursue your dreams for you. Always be willing to grow. Don't get distracted, take time to study your craft and ask questions. John Maxwell says, "Great leaders ask great questions."

Expression and it's not even just from writing. I like anything creative. Whether its making graphics, making pottery, baking, decorating. Anything that artistically allows me to express myself in a way that I feel verbal communication may fail...because truth is I sometime get tripped up with my words and things don't come out the way that I want it to. With my art I don't have to worry about that.

So this was something I experienced after my second book release. I was stuck like legit nothing was coming to me, but then I realized I wasn't stuck because the words wouldn't come. I was stuck because of fear. Literally, paralyzed by fear. Fear that my writing wasn't good. Fear that people would judge me by my work. You have to shut down that little negative voice inside and first recognize that this is your gift and you're writing to express yourself. To get out something that's been stirring on the inside. Though I didn't release for what felt like an eternity, I never stopped writing. It's apart of me. It's how I express myself. It's how I communicate. Remember you're doing this first for you and if someone comes along and likes it too, that's cool. If not, remember you were satisfied before anyone attached their opinion to it.
