Hi Cat! Well, I think it is a combination of insomnia, doing a DMin (for which I have to read) and having children who are university age! As well as an almost pathological fear of not having something to read!!

1. Read lots of writers whose writing you enjoy; stop reading those you don't (even if you're in the middle of a book!)
2. Write something every single day, however short, however trivial, however private.
3. Read what you have written out loud. It's amazing how much we miss clunky writing if we only 'hear' it in our heads.
4. Even if you are self-publishing, ALWAYS make use of an editor that you trust (even if they suggest cutting passages you're proudest of)
