Everyone in my extended family has a dog. At holidays, there are usually 4-5 of them at the family gathering. (We like big dogs. The smallest ones are about 65 pounds.) They are a huge part of our lives, providing us with funny moments or comfort. Knowing how many others feel like us, I thought it was time for a book where dogs are heroes.
I give myself a different writing challenge with every book. In "Scent of Fear", I concentrated on the senses, especially smell.

I take a walk, go to a movie, do anything that's a break or different from writing or thinking about the story. Usually, I figure a solution to the plot or what a character needs within one to three days.
