The unexpectedness. I don't really plan anything. Well, that's not entirely true. I planned the world of Mystica, I just don't plan the stories that occur in Mystica. By trusting in my subconscious when it comes to writing, I am always surprised by what happens in my stories.

Treat the craft of writing as you would if you were devout. So, make the craft your religion. Kneel at its altar daily. Always strive to get better. Don't take criticism personally. Learn from it. Most importantly, READ, READ, READ. Genre doesn't matter. In fact, it would do you good to get outside your comfort zone and dive into genres you wouldn't normally consider.
