Elizabeth,
I did post a note on your review. Mark Harris is one of the few invented historical characters in the story. However, he is based on my first boss in the UK who was entitled, lazy and whose father was a baronet. He was unpleasant, to say the least, eventually jailed for embezzlement, but refusing to accept what he'd done was wrong because he thought he deserved more money, money that was not his.

It's been available right from the start, Bev. Don't know where you are, but here's the Amazon link in Australia. Thanks for the great reviews :-)

I just do it. I sit and start writing. Somedays I go to bed thinking I've written something wonderful, and then the next day I look at it and think "who wrote this steaming pile of...?" On other days, I can think what I've written is awful, and then find it flows and has glimmers of acceptability. I rarely think it's truly good; that's for others to judge.

My current WIP is about the clash of cultures in rural Australia after the end of the second world war, between the European farmers/graziers and the indigenous peoples of the New England area of N.S.W.

Don't give up. Write every day, even if it's fifty words. Have a note book with you everywhere you go. Jot down at least one thing every day, even if it has nothing to do with a current project. Keep a bullet journal with what you plan to do and what you've done at the end of the day--after all, you're only accountable to yourself.

The best thing about being a writer is using all those daily observations of what people do, how they react, how they speak, and to weave those things into prose.

Usually it doesn't last long. It's more with me that I get annoyed with a plot hole, or I think of something that needs fixing earlier on, and the flow-on effect is very time consuming.

The idea for the Boys of Bullaroo came from a fellow author, who encouraged me to write about Australia, to shed some light on our unique culture and the gay men who served.
