The creative freedom it brings, especially that first draft. Nobody will ever see a first draft so you write it for yourself. It's when you start editing that you switch into a reader mindset.

For each book I have a playlist of music which has helped certain scenes pop in my head. If I get stuck then it's time to put that playlist on and go for a long walk. That usually works. If not, then taking a week or two off will help me come back to it with refreshed energy.

My latest book series is a dark comedy look at Reality TV, but also encompasses the world of instant celebrity, social media and cancel culture. I literally have to scroll through social media for half an hour and I had inspiration for another chapter!
