Evi Rhodes I think the best thing about being a writer is the ability to tell someone else's stories; and although my characters are fictional they are all based off real people and their real life situations. So to have a reader connect with and relate to a situation or a character, good or bad is important for me. To have a reader for even a fraction of time walk in another's shoes, is a beautiful and powerful thing.
Evi Rhodes Wicked Night is the first book in A Warrior's Promise Series and it along with all the subsequent books are pulled from the same inspiration. What happens when you clash relatable real life issues with a fantasy based world? Everything from characters and their back stories to the issues they face are all drawn from the world around us. I want each person that reads these books to feel like they can relate to one or more of the characters, and feel like they have become a friend or family.
Evi Rhodes Write because you love it! Publish it because you believe in it! Always believe in yourself and never let other's negativity stop you. Remember you're never going to please everyone and that's okay, the ability to have different opinions and feelings and to be honest about them is what makes the world around us so special. If we all felt, thought and acted the same way it would be a pretty boring place.
Evi Rhodes I am inspired by the world around us. The very personal stories ranging from real heroism to ugly prejudices that we all face are what make me want to sit and write.
Evi Rhodes Currently I am editing book three Orion's Night, in A Warrior's Promise Series, as-well-as re-writing Wicked Night the first installment in the series. There are some major improvements to the style of writing which include: Character development, pace of the book, chemistry between the characters, less POV changes, and of course I've introduced some of the favourite supporting characters sooner. Will announce a release date as soon as possible :)
Evi Rhodes There are a couple things I like to do when I am struggling to write anything. The first is make a cup of coffee and the second is to take my dogs for a walk through one of the forests in the area to clear my mind. Usually, I find I am overthinking what I am trying to write, rather than just letting the scene or chapter build naturally. Taking a break can make a world of difference.
