Truth is stranger than fiction. If I could time travel, I would follow Alexander the Great because I would love to see the world as he knew it. It was quite different from our own world. In Alexander's time, it was a period of global warming, and the sea levels had risen enough to allow boat passage between the Black and Caspain Seas and the other waterways around Turkey and Georgia. It is how Jason and the Argonauts were able to travel by sea to Georgia.

The Time Chair Diary series is all about storytelling history. Big Battles in Trenton is about an event I am very familiar with as I lived in NJ for several years. Indeed, my sleep, I can recite the entire period of the American Revolution we refer to as The Ten Crucial Days. By the time you have read Big Battles, you too will know all about that nerve racking time through the magic of a story told by an 11 year old girl.
The idea of Ell as a time traveler came from my experiences as a storyteller. I tell history. No lecture will ever pass my lips! I want kids to enjoy history. Adults too. Since I am empathic, I decided that this girl, who is very much a part of me, would tell the story as an eyewitness.
