Stephanie Rogers My most recent book is a very ambitious project for me as I have never had such a large cast of characters before. There are a lot of characters that are all working towards one large, pivotal moment that connects them. Without giving too much away, I like modern technology in thrillers and this one has something technological central to it that I've never seen written about before. My love of techy stories is what inspired this book.
Stephanie Rogers Everything I see and hear and read is a potential story. I keep my eyes and ears open and just know when I have a lightbulb moment.
Stephanie Rogers I am currently writing a new thriller and making notes for the one after. Winter is my writing time as the garden has gone to sleep. Spring and summer, while I'm gardening, are thinking time in preparation for the winter so I can start to write it. It works well for me.
Stephanie Rogers Never give up.
Never stop learning.
Stephanie Rogers The best thing about being a fiction writer is that you get to spend large amounts of time inhabiting worlds and people you've created. If you have a wild imagination then it really is the best thing you can do. If you like to be the boss, (like I do), it's perfect as you really are in control of every little part of your story. If you can paid for making stuff up then it doesn't get any better.
Stephanie Rogers I'm not sure writer's block exists. I think you can't write anything if you haven't thought enough about it. If it isn't in your head it can't go on the page. Writer's block = more thinking time needed. I think it's that simple. Writing is more than just typing. It's the whole thought process behind it.
