V.R. Tapscott I have to say I don't really have a reading list as such. I read so many books that it's not practical, since a list of ten or fifteen books would be gone in a few weeks. My reading list usually consists of finding a new interesting author, devouring everything they've written, and moving on to the next author. :-)
V.R. Tapscott I thought about this, and the only real mystery in my life is why there's not more mystery! Plots for my books come from outside, and while my thoughts and opinions shape the course and attitude of the books, none of the plots - at least that I'm aware of - come from me.
V.R. Tapscott I have all these ideas written down - little snippets of plot or a scene or simply a bit of text. But as to where do they come from, I'm not sure. Where does air come from?
V.R. Tapscott Sadly, my most inspirational thing has been NaNoWriMo - the National Novel Writing Month. Both my Jane's have come from that. It's possible that the next Jane will come from this November's NaNo.
V.R. Tapscott A fantasy/detective story by the name of "Lacey & Alex and the Dagger of Ill Repute." Lacey and Alex are in line to have adventures, but it's hard to get Jane out of the way, and of course, Jane has a cliff hanger in the current book, so can't get people too riled by not working on the next one soon.
Also, though, I have a "cozy mystery" series started called "Cinnamon Roll Capers". The first in the series is "The Catnapping".
And also a far more serious book called tentatively "Vida Fuera de la Muerte" or "Life Out of Death." It has nothing Spanish in it, but I liked the sound and feel of the title.
V.R. Tapscott Edit. Edit til your eyes bleed, then wipe them off and edit some more. Every time I read one of my books, I find something - usually tiny - that I missed before. And - a long story doesn't always make a good story. Some books I know I would like more if they were just a tad shorter.
V.R. Tapscott Getting to read books no one else has ever heard of. :-)
V.R. Tapscott I'm not exactly sure what writer's block is. Perhaps it's simply procrastination? I'm world-class at procrastination...but in general can sit and and simply write when I want to. Or at least I could until saying that ...
