The issue came up in Garrison Earth (books 2 and 5), and then I believe at the end of book 1 in Stolen by the Warlord, when Ceangal's nanites fail to extend fully over her pregnant belly.. wait.. did I dream that up as a potential extended epilogue? Anyway, the idea behind nanites is that they're genetically added into the cells of the skin, almost working as an extra organ when willed to close. If said organ experienced too much irreparable damage, it might lose some or all of its function. In Anne's case, the damage was too vast since the torso contains such a large amount of skin. However, I'm pretty sure that her psychological scars might have further contributed to it. Even if she would have been able to will her nanites, though, she wouldn't have done so in front of Razgar, potentially steering his attention to something she tried hard to hide.

It's always interesting which side characters get extra love from my readers ;) Book 3 hinted that she would likely stay with Katedo since he mentioned how helpful she might be to him in an advisor position. Indeed, Samara joined his tribe. We will see her again in book 5 (which will take us beyond the White See, deep into the heart of the freeraiders), but she won't get her own story.

Garrison Earth has a total of 6 books, and the fifth one, Chained, will arrive soon. It will follow the story of Zavis and take us to the home planet of the Jal'zar. As for audiobooks, Mated is currently going through audible quality control. I am trying to add the audiobooks as quickly as possible, but corona and riots made working conditions hard for my narrator. Glad you love the stories. The entire series means a lot to me :)

Phew... a lot of stuff. I am currently editing "The Bastard". At the same time, I am finishing up book 2, and outlining book 3.
