Austin Rehl The best thing about being a writer is that I get to take an idea and give it a physical form and then, through words, transfer that idea to someone else. As a reader I love to see the images and hear the voices of my favorite authors. To be able to participate in that magic is a blessing.
Austin Rehl The first draft of Book 2 in the Sīhalt Series is over halfway completed. I am writing it diligently. The working title: Guardian of the Golden City

(I also have a Sci-Fi novel that is inching along as well.) :)
Austin Rehl Consider the things that would make you feel regret when you look back, at today, from your vantage point in the future. Seek to eliminate the things that would make you feel regret and expand on this things that would lead you to feel joyful.
Austin Rehl My writer's block takes the form of competing responsibilities. I try to find balance in my life despite the challenges. I like to listen to Spanish guitar music as I write.
Austin Rehl I love people and I am an extrovert. As a practicing dentist, I get to see many people in the office each day. I get to hear about their lives and concerns, their joys and their pain. I learn a lot by watching them and they help to inspire me to improve my writing as I seek to depict human emotions.

I also have many hobbies and I draw from them as I write.
Austin Rehl The idea for my most recent book started with bedtime stories I used to tell my daughters when they were small. After I tucked them in bed, one winter night, I looked outside to see the whole forest of our back yard covered in a layer of ice. I drifted off to sleep with the fantasy story still on my mind, but the tree branches outside were so loaded with ice they began to break from the added weight. I awoke to the sound of splintering wood crashing to the ground. The noise of the breaking tree limbs disrupted a vivid dream. In the dream I saw a girl on horseback being led by a heroic warrior. Ten years ago, I scribbled down those details and put them in my nightstand. Two years ago the story began to take on a life of its own when I joined an active-critique group and decided to write the novel. Readers will see elements of that vivid dream in my book Guardian of the Sunshine Bride.
