We have a small series of "story songs" that we are turning into manuscripts to develop into picture book format. It is so rewarding to see the characters we have created for children come to life in so many different mediums!

We used to write a lot of our material inspired by our own childhoods and mutual upbringing on Vancouver Island. More recently, since we've become parents ourselves, we find ourselves more and more inspired by our own kids and the issues and interests they bring to our attention through their early explorations and discoveries as well as their social interactions with peers.

Run Salmon Run was inspired by the acknowledgement that salmon are a great ambassador species for teaching kids about the interconnections of wildlife, ecosystems and humans. Pacific Salmon are a fabulous keystone species with an inspiring story around their journey from stream to sea and back again. It was exciting to weave this into the Run Salmon Run narrative and also further develop this with a song and App based on the book.
