"Campus Confidential" is based on my own experiences as an early-career contingent faculty member. Although I've never gotten caught up in quite the same kind of life-and-death mystery, a lot of the rest of it is all taken direct from life! I'm also very interested in current events and in military/veterans' writing, which informed a lot of the stuff going on in the periphery of the story, such as the involvement of some of the secondary characters in the events in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Donbass in Eastern Ukraine.
