Robert Talbert By writing! Do something small and don't worry about whether it's any good. If I'm stuck on a blog post, I'll see if I can write 100 words, or an outline, and I will not edit or in any way judge myself. Sometimes you just have to push through and do something, and often by doing one little thing, you'll get the gears working.
Robert Talbert Most of my inspiration to write happens as passing thoughts --- something I picked up while reading, an observation I make while teaching or grading, and so on. If a passing thought grabs my attention, I capture it on a sticky note or a Google Keep note, then come back to it in my weekly review. If the idea still resonates with me, I'll eventually write about it on my blog first. Over time, those accumulated ideas might grow into something larger, which is what happened with my first book.
Robert Talbert I wrote Flipped Learning: A Guide for Higher Education Faculty after implementing flipped learning in my classes for ten years, with very little practical guidance out there and having shared my successes and failures on my blog. Based on my blogging and classroom experiences, I wrote a 30-page workbook for a two-day minicourse on flipped learning I was conducting. That workbook turned out so well that I decided to turn it into a full-length book, containing everything I had learned about flipped learning over a 10 year period.
