Amber Renard I got the idea for Kel before I had a plot fully formed. Kel was born out of frustration. At the time, every Urban Fantasy novel I read featured kick ass heroines with awesome powers that turned into passive wallflowers as soon as the Hero was introduced into their lives. Women that could do amazing things were suddenly too stupid to live characters needing saving.

My first draft of Kel was fun to write. She had absolutely no filter and most readers found her unlikable at first. Since Moonsworn is a paranormal romance, Kel had to soften a little bit, but I hope readers find she meets the standard for an Alpha female.
Amber Renard I read, a lot. Writing seemed to follow naturally. I would often mentally rewrite endings to books I read that didn't go as I would have liked. Putting new ideas to paper was a natural progression.
Amber Renard I'm working on the sequel to Moonsworn. It features Cado, a character I hope you'll like from Moonsworn, and the unusual assignment that changes his life.
Amber Renard Exploring new worlds. I start out with a general idea of how things need to work in the story, but as I write, I unearth layers to the world I didn't plan that surprise even me. Not all of them make it into the book (like if werewolves get periods in Kel's case), but they definitely lead to some interesting research. I love knowing the little facts about everything and everyone in my little world.
Amber Renard I find that the answers to all of my sticky plot problems come at the most inconvenient times: In the shower, while I'm washing dishes or cleaning the house, and especially while I'm driving. One day I'm going to get a diction app so I don't forget these great ideas as they come.
