The best thing about being a writer is talking to my readers. At my book launch recently, one of my readers wanted to tell the story of "Planting Iris" to everyone there. She loved it. And I like it when my stories touch my readers' hearts and they want to hug me. That's pretty special!

I found taking writing classes and participating in writing workshops enormously helpful. Also belonging to a book discussion group and keeping up with what is being written. I also developed friendships; one fellow writer is my writing buddy. We give one another frank feedback; she's been a brick.
