Eloise Reuben The Angel of Bishopsgate actually sprung from a single scene that came to me in which a young girl was creeping through the Victorian slums at midnight to deliver a note. It was a free writing exercise in which I just gravitated to something I would find most engaging. The whole story and world grew from that one scene as I explored who that girl could possibly be, what the note may say, and who she might be meeting.
Eloise Reuben My favourite thing about being a writer is being able to disappear into different worlds. I love travel in the real world, and I'm drawn to books that fully transport me to a different time and place. I love to experience scents, smells and feel the history of a place. It's part of the reason I write in historical settings, they seem to suck me in more wholly than a contemporary settings.
Eloise Reuben I'm currently plotting The Devil's Edge, the final instalment of the Darker Cities Trilogy, and writing a prequel centered around Aileen's younger years. She is a fan-favourite and I'm so excited to share more of her story.
