Sarina Prabasi My editor and editing process really helped. Having trusted early readers and their comments and impressions helped too. There were also times when I thought I should cut something, and my editor encouraged me to keep it in.
Sarina Prabasi Spending time outdoors. Walking. Many times ideas come to me in the shower, or on my subway commute. Those spaces in between everything else that happens in a day.
Sarina Prabasi The freedom to create. Getting lost in words. Finding the right words. Reading a lot!
Sarina Prabasi I'm mulling on an idea, playing with it in my mind, writing little bits around the edges, and letting it take shape. I'm in the thinking stage of writing. This one will be a novel, I think.
Sarina Prabasi I was helping my father with his memoir. He's older so he was taking breaks, and needed to rest, and I started writing the very beginnings of what would become my own book. My book is also a memoir. It's a story about love, and coffee and the American Dream. It's our family's story, so I guess I got the idea for the book, from our own experience.
Sarina Prabasi If I'm in front of a blank screen or page and the words are just not coming, then I leave it and do something else --go for a walk, or cook. I haven't experienced extended periods of writer's block, but there are definitely days when the words flow easier than others.
