Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Patty Grasher My latest book is a completely revised edition of Explore Vancouver Washington. The idea basically was that it needed updating and so I'm on it. :-)

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?
Patty Grasher When I was in grade school my mother's closet seemed to hold something evil in it. I don't know what it was as my mother was not at all an evil person but it was an old house we had moved into as a rental. This closet seemed like it had power in it that was not good.

What are you currently working on?
Patty Grasher I have done a number of books that were non-fiction. Now I want to do something that is just fun. So I have started writing a paranormal cozy mystery. I thought it would be easy but it's turning out to be very challenging. But then I guess first attempts at anything are that way.

How do you get inspired to write?
Patty Grasher Oh, I don't know. Sometimes I just get bored and want to do something. And writing sort of fills that gap.

I am not very good with staying on a schedule with it. More like getting on a roller coaster and just going for the ride.

I remember reading once about an author who (jokingly I hope) said he left a gun by his desk and when he wanted to quit would take the gun out, direct it at his head and say, "Write!" Some days I think I should maybe think about that. . . my problem is I got to be a pretty good shot so I don't know how much actual writing would get done.
