F.K. Maddison I don't think I can honestly say I have encountered writers block? My problem is getting started - the first chapter of Benaghar: The Rat, The Wolf and The King's Fool took me a while to get going then after that I couldn't stop.

Having said that, there are days when I just can't be bothered: just brain dead from a busy day at work then having to write, or just actually wanting to switch off from creative writing - sometimes you just have to have a break and then go back to it.
F.K. Maddison It's really fun creating a new world and finding your voice/style of writing. I really love the process of writing the first draft, editing is NOT my favourite part but it does really help sieve out the rubbish so you are left with a book that flows.
F.K. Maddison This sounds blunt, but you just have to stop making all those excuses, find/make the time, and get on with it!

This also means giving up some of your social time, deciding on when you are going to write (what time(s) of day, which days of the week etc.), also get rid of any distractions i.e, your phone, tablets, that book you have been reading, don't write where there is a TV in the room if your prone to being a couch potato or disconnect the internet on the computer you are using!

Everyone writes differently, in different environments - it's up to YOU to make the changes in order to write your book!
F.K. Maddison Well, I have developed Benaghar as a series. The first is The Rat, The Wolf & The King's Fool and I have just started the plan for the second in the series (I still don't have a title for this, but I'm sure that will come to me by the end of the first draft).
F.K. Maddison I used to read a lot as a kid, and then hit secondary school where reading for fun wasn't really encouraged (well, not in the school I went to). Then, in my mid to late teens my sister, Sarah, started telling me she had read some books she really enjoyed and encouraged me to read more often. So that, as well as some family friends who were always reading, writing and acting, sparked my interest, which made we want to have a go at writing, and just have some fun with it.
F.K. Maddison This is cliche, but the idea came to me when I had a dream about one of the characters (who will not appear until the third book in the Benaghar series). I was 17 at the time and wanted to know who the mysterious character I dreamt of was, so built a story about them from there on (its changed and developed A LOT since then!)
