Nicky Webber Geneva by Richard Armitage - it's a brilliant fast paced, action packed read! Well worth five stars. I've been reading and researching psychological thrillers for the past 12 months in preparation for my new thriller, The Foster Mother to be launched in June 2023/
Nicky Webber I love Boo Walker and Nicholas Sparks so plan to read some more of them. My all time favourite is Ian McEwan - fascinating stories told with wit and humour with patches of despair and beautifully written.
Nicky Webber What did my Dutch grandfather do during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during WWII? He worked for the Underground Resistance ferrying Jewish families from Poland to Sweden. This is the core of a new book I am currently writing - only three chapters left to complete, Crow's Song, heavily based on my parents and grandparents experience during the war.
Nicky Webber I swim and walk and clear my head. Then start over - look at the situation and the corner I've written myself into and try to think of the most creative way of getting the characters out of it. Hardly ever have a writers block that can be dislodged! A good sleep helps too!!
Nicky Webber Being creative and escaping to a world of your own making!! Hahaha I think of it a bit like a chess game - how can I get my characters out of checkmate and to a happy place without ruining their imaginary lives!! The freedom of expression and being in control of the process. Working from home is good too although the frustration of domestic demands can drive you nuts if you're in the middle of a brilliant piece of writing!!
Nicky Webber Just sit down and do it!! There's a lot of noise around writing, self help books, workshops and advice. The best way to achieve any result is plan and do. Talking and procrastinating never gets anyone anywhere. Its HARD work but starts with the first words on a page - go for it!
Nicky Webber I have just completed In the Deep End, a romance for thinking women with real life challenges. It has just been sent for editorial assessment and the draft of the cover has been approved. It should be available around March 2019.
Nicky Webber I am passionate about reading and writing and was originally a journalist. I never have enough time to write! I devote most of my time to writing or researching my next book. That's the only inspiration I need! Of course positive feedback from readers really motivates and boosts my energy too!!
Nicky Webber I was at a lunch with several people I didn't know and overheard a conversation where one woman was describing her Uncle and what he did during the war and the secret life he lead after his return home in 1945. I arranged to meet her and discuss the background...and two years later the book No Ordinary Man was born.
