I was sitting in A Course in Miracles study group. A passage was read in which the "gap" was mentioned. Someone asked, "what is the gap?" No one really had an answer. The image that immediately came to my mind was that of the Sistine Chapel, the image of God reaching out to Adam, and the little gap between their fingers. I shared this idea with the group and then said without thinking, "time to leaven the loaf". Everyone did a double take, I too was caught off guard by the words I heard coming out of my mouth. But I also understood how symbolically Adam (a symbol of humanity) was what needed to be raised up. Over time as I considered the question about the gap I was led to seeing how symbolically the "gap" or separation and other important teaching of the Course were symbolically expressed in a modified version of the Christian Cross, which in deference to A Course in Miracles I termed the Miracles Cross.
