There's a part of a quote that's attributed to Benjamin Franklin that says if you want to write "do something worth writing about." I've always lived by that ethos: as often as I can, I try to live a life worth writing about.

I have a few different ways. Sometimes I do some other creative practice, like painting or knitting. Sometimes I gather with my writing friends to work through some prompts together – that usually works! When all else fails, I write about food! For some reason, describing food always gets my creative juices flowing.
