Phillip Meyer That's a really hard question. I would probably go to Athnan which is the realm in my book. However, it would be equally cool to go to Middle-earth, or Narnia, depending on what time period it was. I heard that they both look a lot like New Zealand.
Phillip Meyer I am not much for horror stories, but as a fisherman, any time that a empty fishing boat washes to shore, it give me chills.
Phillip Meyer A prequel to my first book Unafraid Leon's Son. I will release the name soon, but for now it is a surprise!
Phillip Meyer My inspiration comes from a lot of different things. I love the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, as well as wild places filled with beautiful landscape. Music always is a great motivation and I almost always listen while I write. The readers are so important to me, and are my biggest inspirations, along with faith and family which are the most important things in my life.
Phillip Meyer To stay focused and not get sidetracked. I feel that 90% of the work is in the ability to keep going when things get tough. Patience and persistence are the key. Trust me it will be harder than you think. Things will start out really well at first, but it will not last. There are a lot of sacrifices that will have to be made. You will need to put a lot of time into the books that you could be doing other things with. When I was writing Leon's Son, I would spend countless hours working on writing when I would rather be watching TV. If being an author is something you really what, you can do it, as long as you are persistent.
Phillip Meyer The fact that you can create stories that will have an impact on people's lives.
Phillip Meyer I was out deer hunting with my brother on a cold snowy day in late November. We were out for several hours and I remember how determined we were to get something even though the weather was less than optimal. During the hunt I began to think hard about new book ideas. I wanted something more mythical than anything I had done before. Ever since I saw the film adaption of Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, there was something about the Minotaurs that has always gave me a feeling of masculine power, something I feel that our culture in America has lost. Even though the Minotaurs fought on the side of evil in the film, the next two movies showed the Minotaurs in a better light, on the side of good, and in all three films I loved how the creatures looked and fought. I began to form my own story about these majestic creatures in my mind. From the start the story was well planed, and most revisions were small after the first draft. I hope that this book will appeal to everyone young and old alike, but especially to teens and young men. All of us were made for greatness in some way or another, and no one should be afraid of that.
