Mostly, life! I really started sharing on a writing site. I would read other peoples works and critique them and then I started participating in some of the writing prompts and contests.
It is a great way to connect and find validation and support for your work.

I don't engage. I have not really dealt with writer's block. I just do something else until I think of the next chapter.
I also write poetry and sometimes I find it helpful to find prompts about other subjects to start the creative juices.

Connecting with readers. I recently had the opportunity to visit a class of middle-grade readers and it was awesome. The best reward is seeing your book find it's intended audience. Their questions were great and I felt uplifted by the response to my characters!

I am working on book II of the Hero series. Hero's Journey. Sela's spiritual strength is tested. The 3 Ps find purpose in a new adventure and the angels are wagging their tails.

My daughter went to public school in 7th grade. She had attended a private Christian school and it only went through 6th grade. She made a few friends and they would talk about God and their youth group in the back seat of my car.
In 8th grade, her attitude changed and no one mentioned God anymore. I asked what had changed and she said, "Remember last year when that kid called me the "God Girl? Well, now I have friends."
I found that sad and I wanted to encourage kids to hold on to their faith and be strong in what you believe.
