Timothy Ryan It seemed a logical follow-up to the first book. Ideas come from all over. When visiting my wife's family in the Philippines, for example, I remember looking out over the water on the drive to the airport to see some olden-style sailing ships plying the waters. "I should do a sea voyage!" was my immediate thought. The idea expanded into a setting that took up about a third of The Last Heir.
Timothy Ryan How? It just happens. Every lull in the work day, every long drive, every monotonous cleaning task, my mind needs something interesting to turn to during life's mundane moments. It is in these moments I learn what happens to my characters next.
Timothy Ryan Book 3 of the Wrath of Shadows series. Way too much story left to tell.
Timothy Ryan Just write. Whatever it is in your head and in your heart, whatever it is you have to say, just set pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and get it out. Writing is like learning to walk. It's wobbly and awkward at first, but soon your steps become steady. And then you're walking. Then you're jogging. Before you know it you are running marathons and loving every minute of it. Just write!
Timothy Ryan Bringing the characters in my head to life. Some of them I have known for decades and sharing them with the world is so rewarding.
Timothy Ryan I don't really get writer's block. Limiting my creative process until my family has gone to bed means I have a full day of inspiring ideas to get out of my head at the end of the day. It may mean only a page or two gets written a day, but that has the added benefit of always having something I need to write when I sit down for the next session.
