Christopher J. Finn I'd say it was around 2010. I'm not sure what I was thinking and probably still don't, but I remember saying, "I can do that."
So, I sat down, penned an entire novel, then tossed the manuscript in the garbage. I wanted to see if I possessed enough focus to draft a full-length novel.
Afterward, I decided to learn how to code and didn't try again for many years. I regretted that decision.
Christopher J. Finn Part II to Dorothy and the Glass Key, another brand new 5 part fantasy/magical realism series (to be named later) spanning from 1960 to present. I've also drafted a stand-alone novel, and a 3-parter (it's a word, I swear) about the end of days. Or maybe the beginning... Point of view thing.
Christopher J. Finn Listen, learn, rinse, repeat.
Oh, and the editor is always right.
Christopher J. Finn Watching your stories unfold. I have had more, "Well, crap, guess this is going a different route," moments than any straight-laid plot. It's fun.
Christopher J. Finn Two part solution for me. I shut off the computer, take a break, maybe go for a drive to clear my head. If this doesn't work, I delete the passage.

This is for a block in story progression. Stopping for research—hey, do it. Do it often.
