Kevin Fitzpatrick The usual thing for me is just to put the manuscript away for a few days. My mind is working ideas in the background and once it resolves, I can get started again. If that doesn't work, just write some garbage to get the imagination started again. Something will normally come out of that, even if the garbage written is worthless.
Kevin Fitzpatrick I get lost in it and hours pass in what seems like minutes. It is just something I really like doing.
Kevin Fitzpatrick My experience is that writing a novel requires several different characteristics: perseverance, self-confidence, imagination and discernment. Those characteristics need to balance each other equally or the novel loses its 'center' so to speak, or it just doesn't get completed. Prepare to re-write and discard what doesn't work.

Kevin Fitzpatrick The morning and several cups of coffee seem to be my motivators! That and a good idea that can evolve into something with an interesting storyline and characters.
Kevin Fitzpatrick The entire concept of the book came out of a writing group. We had come together and floated several ideas for short stories. The idea was fairly brief, but the basic thought was to write about a mysterious blue rose. Turns out, that idea was one that transformed into the premise for the novel.
