I don't, really. I just . . . do it. I don't know how not to write. Which sounds humble-baggy. It's not. For a great part of my life knowing that I was born to write was much more a curse than anything else.
Anyway, I guess the only inspiration I ever get, writing-wise, is to think of my life. Then . . . there it is.

I just published the novel I've been writing for five years, so right now I'm working on lying on my couch and watching TV. No, not really. I'm shipping out copies of the book ("Everywhere She's Not") to those who supported its Kickstarter campaign, and in general doing the work one must do if one doesn't want to die in complete obscurity because one never put in the time it takes to make sure that one's self-published novel gets scattered out into the world so that it has a chance to, here and there, take root.

Writing for deadlines is so ingrained in me from my years doing newspaper and magazine writing that I honestly don't suffer from writer's block. But there are definitely days when I just kind of full-on crash, rather than work. On those days, I mainly just lie on the couch and watch TV. Fascinating, I know. I can't help it. I'm glamorous that way.
