All my dreams came true. I had nothing left to do.

I've only recently become an author so I'm probably not qualified to answer this question yet but the best thing, so far for me, has been actually holding my book in my hand for the first time and knowing that I had achieved something special.

My stories grow from my characters so if I hit a snag in the story telling I take a step back from my story and revisit my character. The story generally sorts itself out after that.

Write. Its so easy not to, but its the only way to become an author.

I always like to have a few projects on the go.
At the moment I am working on a revised edition of the Chameleon duology as there were a few typos that snuck through the editing on the first edition.
I have also signed up to Author's Republic to start working on audiobook editions of my published works but that won't progress until 2020 as I am moving country at the end of this year and want to get everything set up from my new tax jurisdiction.
I'm also working on is a trilogy of Fantasy novels called 'Hell Wars.' The first book in the trilogy, called 'Demon Child,' is completely written and I'm in the process of looking for a publisher for it. The second book, 'Nightmare,' is about three-quarters complete.
My last project is a Y.A. Fantasy novel called 'The Witch of Birteen.' I've only just begun this so it will be a wee while before it is available to read.

I imagine characters that I like and my stories grow from there. It goes characters, setting then situation, in that order. Once I get to that point I'm ready to pick up the pen.

I often don't enjoy first person writing but one of my favorite recent reads was 'Shantaram' by Gregory David Roberts and it was written first person. This inspired me to have a crack at first person writing myself and to write the type of story I would enjoy.
Another big influence on this story is Celia Dart Thornton's 'The Bitterbynde' series.
Though there is very little similarity between her story or characters and mine I really enjoyed the wonderfully rich and descriptive use of simile and metaphor in her series. It was an unusual style of writing that really appealed to me so I tried something similar in this novella.
I don't pretend to be in the same league as either of these masterful wordsmiths but they have been big influences on this story.
