Hello Lily,
I appreciate the offer of editor or proofreader, but I am blessed to have a wonderful critique team that does both. I also have editors that work with me through my publisher. As for reviews, I can never get enough of those!
I've wanted to be a writer since I was twelve because of my love for stories and reading. Although life happened and I took many detours on that road, including teaching middle school for years, here I am doing what I've dreamt of most of my life.

Work on something else for a day or so that pertains to writing and then get back in. Writer's block (at least for me) is fear. Fear that what I write won't be good enough. Give yourself permission to fail at what you write. That's what editing is for.

Meeting new characters and letting them take off with the story. Seriously, they say and do things I wasn't expecting and it's exciting.

Take every opportunity to hone the craft. I took creative writing classes in college and joined a local writer's group. Write, write, write. Then put it out there for critiquing. Most of all, don't give up. When I heard Debbie Macomber speak at a writer's conference, her title inspired me to keep trying. It was called, "How to be an Overnight Success in 20 Years."

I am finishing up the rewrites for my next book and then I'll be starting on my new series, which will take place in Tennessee. I also write non-fiction pieces, when I can, for Chicken Soup for the Soul. Those are always on my to-do list.

I have been writing since I was 12. I loved reading, and I loved stories. When I wrote, my mother (who passed away in 2005) would tell me that she thought I'd be a writer some day. Her belief in me kept that dream alive.

The idea started with my main character, Tess. She appeared in a scene in my first novel (which will be published in 2021--that's another story) and my critique group really connected with her. Sadly, she didn't make the cut when I did the rewrites for the book, but I couldn't get her out of my mind. I finished a second novel (to be published 2020) and then gave into Tess's nagging to tell her story.
