I committed initially to spend six months writing my memoir, so I was disciplined to sit down most evenings and weekends to write. It took just over 5 months. The many changes and copy editing took the most time, 11 months as I subsequently changed the majority of the names, cities and countries.

The excitement I see on the faces of others as they relish in my achievement. Also the amazing reviews I have received which are quite humbling. The book seems to have touched so many. One reviewer wrote that after reading my story, "She will now look on her life as a glass filled to the brim!"

Commit to sitting down and to telling your story, whether nonfiction or fiction. It doesn't matter how is starts out or how many edits it will require. Just start! Let if flow freely. Your copy editor will help with cleaning it up. I wrote in word with tons of self edits which were ultimately smoothed out by my copy editor.

As my first book is a memoir, I felt a deep desire to share. Many an evening after work and well into midnight, I sat at our kitchen table with my laptop, crying as I wrote and on some nights laughing uproariously as to how I had arrived at a certain juncture in life and how I had to overcome the challenges. My goal in writing the story is for the reader to reach The End, gaze once more upon the face of that brave child on the book's cover and conclude that nothing can hold the reader back. All is possible!

On the morning of Aug 4, 2017 our wedding anniversary, I awoke thinking that I would never realize the unrelenting dream of finding my birth mother. I had experienced so many traumatic events and challenges in my life up to that stage, I thought it was time to put pen to paper as it were, and to share my experiences in the hope that the reader would find inspiration, hope, faith and the courage to persevere despite daunting life challenges.
