Judith M. Ackerman NEVER QUIT! Believe me, I have often felt like quitting. Writing , in it's self, is a beautiful journey, but what comes after it , is daunting. Trying to find an editor and a publisher, can wear any promising author to the point of wanting to give up! But do not give in to the disappointments and the endless waiting for that long awaited letter. I submitted several of my children's books and did not receive any replies. I had written a book to honor my father who was a Commercial Fisherman, "The Fishermen and the Mermaids" and wanted my 90 year old mother to see it before she passed away, so I self published!
What a great experience and joy, to hold that beautiful book in your hands and see another human being enjoy it also. That is why I say, never quit! You were created do do great things and you should share them with the world, even if it only affects a few! You have accomplished something you held dear in your heart and you shared this special part of you while still on this earth and maybe for all eternity. So, do not quit! Show the world who you are! It is good for your soul!
Judith M. Ackerman I am currently working on a Historical Fiction Children's book, which takes place at Christmas time. I have employed a talented artist from Romania, Olivia Manta and I am very excited about the progress. It will be published in 2021.
I am hoping it will be loved by many!
Judith M. Ackerman Being a writer gives you the opportunity to create your own world, just the way you would like it! You also have the opportunity to create a world for those who read your words. It is a beautiful thing to mold a young mind with a loving and positive influence that will effect his or her life. I have often written to the New York Times and other media, trying to make them realize that they have the power to change the world with their words. They often direct their words with such negativity. The human soul cannot prosper on negativity. If they would write about the positive things people are contributing to society, they could redirect the atmosphere towards good and change the world! There is power in a writer's words. Let it be for good, and make our world a better place for all.
Judith M. Ackerman I had a beautiful and loving grandmother, who I loved very much. I remember the wonderful memories we shared and an old tin box filled with beautiful treasures she had hidden under he bed. Not only did a fairy tale evolve from these memories, but the expressions of love which I think are so important to express to those who we cherish. I wanted to write this story to honor her, but I also wrote it for those who still have a grandmother living. Let her know her life was meaningful while she is still with you. Give her a book she will cherish! "Grandmother's Tin Box"
Judith M. Ackerman We all have writer's block at times. I like to write with pen and paper in the beginning. I find it is a better connection with my thought process. I just keep writing thoughts down and re read them and ideas begin to develop. I have not had any problems with getting ideas, but I would suggest to read other books and look at the covers of picture books. Sometimes an idea will spark from a picture. Sit outside and look at nature, and Daydream!
Judith M. Ackerman What inspired me to write? I am basically a creative person. I have won awards in art and city projects. I was a successful Real Estate agent for eighteen years and then became very ill with an illness called " Lupus"
I was devastated and felt like my world had come to an end. I was sick and isolated from everything. Then one day, I was looking at pictures of my Dad and I remembered all the great things he did before he died. He adopted me and my two brothers and worked so hard as a Commercial Fisherman. There were times we had hardly any food but we had love and the adventurous stories he brought home from every fishing trip. He died too early and I decided to honor him with "The Fishermen and the Mermaids" which is now being sold in Europe. I hope you enjoy it!
