My main characters are Robert and Bob Hanson, conjoined twin private investigators. Robert the sane, professional and Bob the loose-cannon, not serious brother.
I have a fraternal twin brother who is 10 minutes older than me. So some of my experience translates to the book. I also wanted to focus on locations along the Front Range in Colorado. I've written satirical opinion pieces for my local paper, the Longmont Times-Call over the last 7 years and I wanted to write a character driven satirical fiction book that wasn't especially politically correct.

I'll read or hear something and I can't put an idea down fast enough. I usually listen to all types of inspiring music on my headphones and pull down the window blind to focus, while I write. My most creative time to write is from 4-8 PM.

This is a cliche, but write what you know or love. Be selfish with what you write and know you'll never please everyone with your stories. Be open to critical feedback, which can sometimes help you improve and gets you used to separating your ego and self-worth from your stories.

I get to be fabulously rich and famous.....at least in my fictional universe.

I'll usually take a break and do something physical, walk, bike ride or play golf. For me, writing from a stream of consciousness also helps, even though it may be gibberish, I know future edits will purify the thoughts.
