T.M. Creedy He stared down at the bloody, beaten body lying face down on the ground. He went to radio in the call to his Police HQ, bending down to gently turn the body over as he did so, only to find himself gazing into his own dead eyes.
T.M. Creedy I've always been un-naturally interested in Tudor history, so I would love to travel back in time to Henry VIII's court and see history in the making. Probably not a great idea as I'm sure I was a witch in an earlier life and no doubtedly hanged!
T.M. Creedy I'm thinking of re-visiting some of my favourites. Stephen King's Bag of Bones will be the first!
T.M. Creedy Walk away! Come back to it later.
Don't try and force something that isn't happening. And don't beat yourself up about it if it happens - you'll know instinctively if something is going well or if something feels forced. Take a break, come back to what you've written and be honest. If it sucks, it sucks, so start again. The idea is sound but you need to find the right words, and they will come to you at the most inappropriate times (in job interviews, in the middle of the night, dinner with the in-laws), so make sure you have that notebook handy!
T.M. Creedy You're your own boss for a start! You can write anywhere in the world so get travelling.
I'm lucky in that my previous job allowed me to keep bashing away at my books in work time if the muse hit me ; ) - not that my ex-bosses know that.....
T.M. Creedy There is so much conflicting advice out there for new writers! Self-publish vs traditional publishing, you have to have an agent/you don't need an agent, Always start a book with a prologue/never start a book with a prologue - it's a very confusing world.
I say - write from the heart. Write about what interests you, what you know. Don't try and be all things to all people - your books are never going to appeal to everybody in the world so make sure your subject matter sits nicely in a niche - and let the readers come to you! A single well written book is going capture a lot more readers than badly written, churned out nonsense!
T.M. Creedy I have two ideas on the go!

One is a thriller based on one woman's escape from a violent and abusive relationship and how she has to find the courage to go back to save the next woman who fell into the same trap.

The other one is another spooky read! About a women who has fallen on hard times and is forced to live with her brother and sister-in-law as an unpaid nanny to their two children. Her niece keeps talking about her imaginary friend called Nancy, only when sinister things start happening it becomes apparent that Nancy is very real indeed....
T.M. Creedy Hmmm - this is a tough one! I found that trying be disciplined and make myself sit down and write for a set number of hours per day just doesn't work for me. Some of my best ideas for twisty storylines come from when I'm out walking, so I always keep a notebook handy to scribble down my ideas. When I'm in the zone I can write continuously for hours, and I know straight away if what I've written is going to be good, likewise - if I try and force the words out I know immediately that what I've written is not heading where I want it to be heading.
T.M. Creedy I have always had a strong fascination with ghosts and paranormal happenings. I can't stand zombie, alien or vampire stories but I love ghosts! This probably stems from seeing a few over the last couple of years - a Nazi solider in a closed off WWII bunker, a little girl in my bedroom and a violent man in a tricorn hat who haunted the café where I used to work and threw things at people (like knives!!). I wanted to write a modern ghost story set in an unlikely setting, and when researching various haunted places in Australia I found a load of references to the Ararat Mental Asylum - widely reputed to be one of the most haunted places in the country, and the idea just developed from there.
