Have fun. Write about what you're passionate. If you're writing fiction, you can make your characters do whatever you want in your own universe, just make sure they behave consistently with the rules of that world.

By putting on my headphones, listening to music, and taking walks in the country. If I'm having trouble with a plot twist, I put the idea in my mind, then go for a walk and think of something else while the music plays. By the end of my walk, a solution will usually rise to the top.

The events in the book were inspired by incidents in my life and the lives of loved ones, exaggerated for (hopefully) amusing effect. I like to say it's fiction that almost happened!
