Jessaca Willis I actually have an answer to this!

I spent much of my youth kind of being a f***-up. Toxic relationships, poor decision-making, drugs, booze, expulsion—I was on the fast-track to living a depressing and unfulfilling life full of strife.

Then one day, things just...changed.

Okay, okay. It wasn't just overnight. I took A LOT of effort on my part, and some cosmic intervention, but I went from being seconds away from dropping out of high school my junior year, to suddenly being enrolled in college classes and thriving!

I'm a happy and healthy mom of a beautiful, intellignet toddler, I have my Master's degree in Social Work now, and I'm living my dream of being a published author.

And here's the mystery: how the hell did I get here? 😂

One of the first books I was going to write was actually a science fiction "memoir" about the different lives I could've led had I just made slightly different decisions.

If I would've stayed involved in basketball, would I have ever played professionally?

If I had stayed involved in drugs and alcohol, would I have wound up homeless or incarcerated?

If I had pursued higher ed, would I have found true happiness (the answer to that mystery has already been answered of course, but at the time I was plotting this book out, it hadn't!)

That book became too difficult to write though, too personal, and I had to table it, but I believe many of my books try tackling these questions anyways, or at least the question of how adversity changes someone, and how we can either succumb or rise above it.
Jessaca Willis It's no secret that I'm obsessed with the animated series RWBY, so it should surprise no one that my answer is: the world of Remnant.

Once I was there, I'd obviously have to search for team RWBY, but I'd be especially drawn to the little town the gang visited in I think season 5 (maybe 6) when they visited Jaune's sister. It reminded me of Bariloche and just felt very homey there.
Jessaca Willis With my sweet tooth activated, I opened the candy drawer, only to find it empty. There was no chocolate in sight.
Jessaca Willis I know summer is almost over, but I'm hopeful that I can finally read Seana McGuire's "Middlegame"!
Jessaca Willis I wanted to take a break and start writing again, before I start editing book 2, Puppets Dream, of The Awakened series, so I just started working on a new series called Soul of the Crow.

Soul of the Crow is about a young girl who gets sucked into the life of a Reaper. Without really knowing it, she becomes a slave to the underworld, collecting souls for Ucogo whenever asked. And that's as much as I'm going to say about it at this point in time. :)
Jessaca Willis I pull a lot of inspiration from my dreams. Unfortunately, my dreams never have the entire plot fully mapped-out for me, but there's enough there to get started.

Jessaca Willis I became OBSESSED with True Blood in Grad School, so much so that I binged the entire show during one of our breaks. But when it was done, I felt empty! I wanted more, not necessarily vampires, but something dark like it!

Somehow, from that desire, The Awakened Quartet was born.
