Tracey S. Phillips I don't believe in Writers Block. The answer is there. Sometimes you just have to ask your characters, "What next?"
Tracey S. Phillips This is a great question. Since psychology intrigues me, I'm drawn to fictionalize events to learn more about emotions and psychological profiles. Most of my research uncovers stranger stories than I've seen in my life. Though I sometimes wish my life was filled with mystery, I don't have any regrets. I believe in Karma, and mine is balanced. For now.
Tracey S. Phillips I get to live in the world of my making. I have so much fun escaping reality that I wouldn't give this up for anything!
Tracey S. Phillips In 2015 I attended the Writers' Police Academy in Appleton Wisconsin where I went to every class taught by Katherine Ramsland. She is a criminal psychologist and has written over 60 books. In one of her classes, she was talking about Justina Morley and other sociopathic children. That was when I first got a glimpse of my killer in BKS
Tracey S. Phillips I hope the next book I publish will be a romantic suspense novel called Elements of Engagement. It is the first book in a trilogy about a Chicago lawyer whose name is Wilhelmina Green. The pitch goes something like this:
What if a Chicago lawyer at the top of her game is targeted by a wealthy CEO suspected of murder? Could he be a killer? Or the man of her dreams?
Tracey S. Phillips Keep Writing. I worked on Best Kept Secrets for four years before getting a call from Crooked Lane Books. For four years before that, I wrote, rewrote and revised three other manuscripts. I spent time learning about the industry and I kept writing. Years ago, at a library event, an author said it will take you ten years to get published. She was right. Even though I did it in eight, it feels like I've won the golden ticket. I feel very lucky.
