Kelsey Quick Hi Nikki! I’m so sorry for the delay! Yes I am still working on it but I’ve had to put it down and pick it up several times over 2020 and this year. I’m sorry to leave you hanging, but as of right now I’m not sure when it will be released.
Kelsey Quick Definitely would go to the fictional world of Panem. Basically because I love traditional archery and camping, and would just hide out in the forests until Katniss or the rebellion needed me.
Kelsey Quick Oh no. I forgot to buy coffee.
Kelsey Quick I actually started writing in 2015 by way of fan fiction, so around 22. I never thought of myself as a writer since I had always been a traditional and digital artist growing up. I never really thought I could be both, especially when a couple of people voiced how much they didn’t like my writing. However, one day, while reading a particularly disastrous fan fiction I thought, “Surely, I can do a bit better than this...” That night I posted 1,000 words of my own fanfic and received quite a few views and urges to continue. 150,000 words and 6 months later, I started considering writing my own novel. :)
Kelsey Quick A Violet Fire started as a seedling idea from when I was reading Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino back in 2007. I was a freshman in high school at the time, and I wondered about a vampire dystopia that kept humans as slaves. After trying to make/draw it in manga form for several years, I decided to give up on it, even though I could never shake the concept...

...until I found my love of writing.
Kelsey Quick Anytime I am able to check-out of society for a bit. Usually this means when I'm able to go camping or when I have a completely obligation-free weekend.
Kelsey Quick A Crimson Truth, the second installment to A Violet Fire.
As well as all my fanfics!
Kelsey Quick Don't listen to the mainstream views of your work. Your words have value somewhere, to someone. If you only ever obtain one core fan, you are changing a life. Focus on that, alone.
Kelsey Quick Creating alternate realities. Books and TV shows saved me during parts of my early life and I love being able to give my own worlds to others for community and support.
Kelsey Quick Writer's block to me just means a lack of inspiration. So I tend to step away for awhile to focus on life other than writing. Things such as hiking, camping, or spending a day with my husband or friends will often lead to the renewed urge to write.
