What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Ricki McCallum This is not the answer everyone is looking for, but my answer is there is no other place than the US at this time where I'd rather be. We have more opportunities today than ever before. It is up to us to make the most of it. We have freedom, the promise of education, the internet, and if we have hope, we have everything. Nothing can stop a person from becoming what they want to become if they have the passion, drive and discipline to do what it takes.

Hi Ricki! Love the topic of your new book. What's the hardest thing for you about downsizing, and how do you overcome it?
Ricki McCallum Hi Mary, I think the hardest thing for anyone is getting started. You have to have the mindset that you can do it first and then make a plan. Following a plan will get you there even if it is slow. Slow but steady, always seeing the goal in front of you. So, making up your mind you can and will do it is the first thing. Thank you for your kind note. I thought it world be so much fun to be in Real Estate. The freedom you discussed was envied by those of us in Human Services because there wasn't even coffee breaks. :) I think it's so wonderful that people like yourself share your experience, strength and help allowing others the benefit of your 40 years. Do you present your book at board meetings, seminars etc.?
Ricki McCallum Yes, I do present my book wherever people may be interested. I love talking about real estate and helping others.

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Ricki McCallum While putting away groceries, the milk slipped from my grasp. I tripped trying to retrieve it but fell and broke my leg. That's when the I saw the man standing over me with the knife in hand. (sorry, it had to be 3 sentences :))

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Ricki McCallum Like my previous answer, I spend time in nature and I pray a lot. Sometimes, I just sit down and start writing not knowing what is going to come out. I'm as surprised as other people. :)

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Ricki McCallum Freedom. Freedom to be yourself and freedom to go in the direction you choose. Freedom to spend the time necessary, and freedom to change your world and others' views.

Ricki McCallum Get started now! Don't wait until you are good enough in your own mind. You will grow with each piece you write.

What are you currently working on?
Ricki McCallum a new book should be out by the end of April 2020. For people over age 50 that want to downsize their home.

How do you get inspired to write?
Ricki McCallum I wake up inspired most days, but if I get stopped I watch the wildlife outside my window or pray.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Ricki McCallum I wanted to help new real estate brokers avoid some of the mistakes I made in the beginning of my business. I wanted to share experiences and advice.
